1.Removalist

At this time of the year removalist are booked out well in advance so get in early.  Have them call our to your house to make sure you get all the information you need and to make sure your price is accurate so there are no surprises.  Pricing over the phone or by email can sometimes be dangerous considering if you miss items or the removalist has not had a chance to view the access to your property.  Having the removalist call also ensure the responsibility is on the removalist.

2. Moving with Kids

Don’t forget the kids !  This is an exciting time of year for them especially the young ones so make sure the spirit of Christmas is kept alive by involving them and allowing them to help in the move to make the move exciting as well as Christmas

3. Inform People

Make sure you send your new address to all your friends and family. Social media sometime is a good time to privately message people to say you have moved.   Maybe when you send your Christmas cards you send a small note containing your new address

4. Utilities and Tradespeople

Remember that list of professional services you need?  Decide who you need and call now to book ahead.  The season will be a busy one for tradespeople too and you want to be sure to get your preferred schedule.  Especially when it comes to utilities, you would not want to spend Christmas with no gas, electricity or telephone.

5. Pack your boxes and ready the Christmas ornaments

Start packing and labelling the boxes as early as you can.  Buy ahead and pack the ornaments, trimmings and special dinnerware in a separate Clearly Marked box, ready for hanging and decorating when you arrive at your new home.  Wrap the gifts ahead of time, too, so you can quickly arrange them around the tree after decorating.

6. Get more help or rope in your family

Support from other family members or friends can make life a little easier, or hire some hands to assist you. .  And if you moved in just the day before Christmas, you can all have a grand time in the kitchen preparing the Christmas feast.

Moving house can be quite a challenge but anything can be fun when done in the Christmas spirit.  These pointers should free you from worry and help you be more organized.  Don’t forget to play Christmas music to set the mood.
